Grown year-round in Costa Rica, HLB’s Drinking Coconuts are simply peeled, polished, and shipped to the US on a weekly basis. They contain 100% coconut water, ready for enjoyment! The drinking coconuts must remain refrigerated to preserve their freshness.
 
They are easy to handle: 
Each coconut comes with its own sustainable straw and has a laser-etched arrow pointing to the opening. Gently place the straw at an angle, insert, and sip away! Once the coconut water is consumed, you can open it and scoop out the pulp, which is also rich in essential nutrients. 
 
How to open:
Carefully open the empty coconut by either tapping it repeatedly on a hard surface until a crack forms or by using a hammer (check out the video for more info). Simply scoop out the pulp for a snack or add it to a recipe!
Refreshing and healthy! 
Each drinking coconut contains between 10 oz – 14 oz * (295 ml – 414 ml) of coconut water, which is the perfect amount to hydrate and replenish electrolytes on a hot day or after exercise. The water contains just about 45 calories per cup (240 ml), making it the preferred alternative to artificial sports drinks.
It is rich in potassium (more than bananas!), which helps regulate blood pressure. Magnesium and calcium help replenish essential minerals, and it is gentle on the stomach, ideal for hydrating during illness.  
Don’t forget the coconut pulp!
Coconut pulp is equally nutritious. It’s a great source of fiber and heart-healthy fats that boost energy and may support good cholesterol (HDL). Coconut meat has antioxidant properties, as it contains phenolic compounds that may help fight oxidative stress and support immune health thanks to antimicrobial properties. 
Coconut pulp is rich in vitamins and minerals, like manganese, copper, selenium, iron, potassium, and magnesium.

GOOD TO KNOW:

  • Yes, these are real coconuts!
  • Nothing added – just pure coconut water.
  • Coconuts have three “eyes” on one side. One is soft enough to pierce – that’s where your straw goes in!
  • Coconut water and pulp can turn pink due to a natural reaction between enzymes and polyphenols (antioxidants) in the water.
  • Young coconuts contain high levels of polyphenols, and as they age, these compounds can cause the water to turn pink. It’s a natural oxidation process and they are perfectly safe to enjoy.
  • Because our Drinking Coconuts are peeled, they always need to stay refrigerated.
  • Best if consumed within a week of purchase. 
HLB’s Tap & Sip Coconuts are grown year-round in Southeast Asia and shipped weekly to our warehouse on the US West Coast, from where it gets distributed throughout the country.
Each Tap & Sip Coconut contains an average of 1.5 cups of pure coconut water. The coconuts must be kept refrigerated to maintain their freshness and are best consumed within one week of purchase.
  1. Remove the plastic tab holding the straw.
  1. Turn the coconut upside down and firmly strike the tap straight down onto a hard surface to puncture the coconut. Be sure to strike straight down, avoid hitting the tap at an angle.
  1. Peel off the sticker, insert the included straw, and sip away!
